Today is the Ascension of our Lord. Forty days after Easter Sunday is Ascension Day on our church calendar. Jesus gives a final blessing to his disciples and ascends to the heavens. This marks the transition of Jesus’ ministry in the body and Jesus as the Spirit of the living God.
Sunday, May 12 is the final Sunday of the Easter season and Mother’s Day. I remember Mother’s Day as a fun day of family and food. My mother loved sea food, so many years we would gather in the back yard for boiled crawfish, shrimp or blue crabs. We all pitched in to organize the event and mom was the guest of honor. What good memories.
