LaVonne Johnson did something very few of us have the courage to do. When most folks are planning for retirement, LaVonne enrolled in seminary. LaVonne had been active in the Lutheran Church all of her life. She had a successful catering business, and often cooked up nutritious meals for the Denver homeless shelters. But now she felt called to the ministry full time. After completing seminary, she received a call to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Roswell, N.M. She then came to mid-south to pastor at Living Word Lutheran in Arlington, and Epiphany Lutheran in Collierville. LaVonne died March 26, 2024 after a short illness. We were honored to host her funeral service at St. Luke. Please keep her family and the people of Living Word, and Epiphany in your prayers.
Be sure to scroll down and see the array of Easter pictures from Easter Sunday. Many thanks to Jesse Williams Photography for graciously taking pictures for us. We are so thankful for Jesse and for all the families that stepped in to have their pictures taken.
Blessings,
Pastor Cliff
